After two days of driving, experiencing the James Bay Road, and eventually falling asleep under the blanket of Northern Lights, I awoke Tuesday morning excited and raring to go. I was to meet Roger, my contact, at his business in Chisasibi, a First Nations community about 100 km west of Radision, QC.

Textiles Belding Corticelli

Belding Smith and Company began business in 1876 and was incorporated in 1877. In 1883, this textile factory was first built, and expanded over the years. By 1920, the company was renamed Belding Corticelli Ltd.

Meech Lake Carbide Mill

Thomas Wilson (1860-1915) settled here in 1907 to study chemical fertilizers. The engineer, who had made a fortune with his discoveries and inventions in the field of electro-chemistry, considered this the ideal site for one of his most daring experiments.
