I had known about this place for quite some time, as I had been visiting nearby several times per year. It hadn't been accessible, however, and I assumed it still wasn't until I saw photos from another explorer, and instantly recognized the place.
When I arrived, the restaurant / gas station was closed up tight, so that was a no-go. I gained entry to the motel quickly and easily, however, and spent a fair bit of time there. A couple of the rooms were open, but when I found the housekeeping room, I quickly discovered keys to most of the locked rooms as well. I took one of each key from the rack and proceeded to go room-to-room. When I was finished, I returned the keys to their respective hooks, and moved on with my day.

On a warm evening, with little to do, I decided to revisit this location. Knowing that much time had passed, and hearing that much damage had been done since my original visit, I went there expecting the worst. I was right.
From a once pristine location, everything was now a shambles. No windows remained intact. Every air conditioner had been kicked from the holes beneath the windows. Every room door had been opened where once they had been locked. Every television destroyed and every bed torn apart. Little remained of what I remembered from my first visit.
I suppose this is the inevitable path every abandonment takes before its final demolision, but it's still sad to see.
