If not for the GPS, it's possible we would have driven right past this place. Most of it has been rehabilitated yet curiously the head-frame remains.
It's small, and doesn't appear as though it was meant to take much weight. Looking down the shaft beneath the cage, we could see water below. When I dropped a stone in, not only did I hear the splash, but also a solid sound of rock. It was only about 30 feet down, and I suppose the shaft may have gone horizontal beyond that, but it was impossible to tell.
